Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Sona, the iPhone app, and this website. Sona is made by Sydcup (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Sona, you agree to these terms. If you have a question, write to contact@sydcup.com.

The app licence

Sona is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), together with these terms. Where the two differ, these terms apply to the extent the Standard EULA allows.

Your content

The recordings, lines and other content you create in Sona belong to you. They are stored on your device (and in your own private iCloud, if you turn on backup), and we don’t receive them. You’re responsible for backing up anything you want to keep — deleting the app removes the content stored on your iPhone.

If you share a line as an audio card or exported file, you’re responsible for where you share it.

Free features and Sona Pro

Some features of Sona are free and stay free. Others require Sona Pro, available as:

• an auto-renewing weekly subscription;
• an auto-renewing annual subscription, which may include a free trial for eligible Apple Accounts;
• a one-time lifetime purchase, which is not a subscription and never renews.

Prices are shown in the App Store in your local currency before you buy.

Subscriptions and free trials

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
• A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel a subscription in your iPhone’s Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
• If a free trial is offered, you won’t be charged if you cancel before it ends. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its policies — you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Sona is a wellbeing tool

Sona helps you record and listen to your own words. It is not a medical service, doesn’t provide medical or psychological advice, and doesn’t replace care from a qualified professional. If you’re struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a local support service.

Don’t use Sona in situations where listening could be unsafe, such as while driving.

Acceptable use

Please don’t misuse Sona or this website — for example, by trying to disrupt them, reverse-engineer them beyond what law permits, or use them to break the law.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Sona reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may update Sona, change or remove features, or update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Sona is provided “as is”, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of content stored on your device. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.
